Artist's Statement

I think the GOP race is perhaps one of the ugliest presidential races I have seen in my life. The republican candidates are absolutely horrible, especially Scrotorum  Santorum. He is an egotistical, far-right control freak, and the fact that he made it this far concerns me. So, I decided to make my stance through a fake Facebook page. now, I don't care for Obama either, but with the GOP candidates we have Obama will have another four years in office.

Artist's Statement: 
I was inspired by the video (Pippilotti Rist) we watched in class last week and thought it would be a good idea to make the project based off of that one. I have been taking German classes for almost three years now, so of course this one appealed to me the most. It wasn't too hard getting the footage, but I wasn't able to replicate the distortion effects the way I wanted to... the program I used didn't have it. Wanted to throw some Bill O'Reilly for teh lulz.

1. Could filming something so basic such as an apple sitting on a table be considered video art? How creative must one be to make something on film and it would be considered art? Does the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" play in this situation?


2. Seeing as everything and anything can be captured on film, does video art lessen the effect that art has on people?
